Resort Style Living

The epitome of upscale living

Welcome to Resort Style Living

If you’ve ever wanted to stay in your home while simultaneously feeling like you are on vacation, then resort-style living might just be the perfect option for you. Resort-style communities typically refer to planned or gated communities, often known for their exceptional beauty and community-oriented ambiance. They come in many shapes and sizes, which include everything from golf and luxury communities to multigenerational and retirement communities. Interested homebuyers can have plenty of housing types to choose from, often ranging from single-family homes to condos. There various types of resort-style communities will enable you to find one that perfectly suits your needs.

Set within the spectacular San Juan Mountains, Glacier is southwest Colorado's coveted vacation home community. It features two golf courses, fully appointed clubhouses, and a nature-inspired lifestyle. Similarly, Tamarron Lodge is set amidst arguably the most scenic valley in Colorado’s San Juan Mountains and is a highly sought-after community to live, work, and play. The resort spans 700 acres, offering ideal access to recreational activities such as skiing, fishing, four-wheeling, hiking, and mountain biking. Guests can also enjoy access to a range of resort amenities, including the valley fitness center, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tubs, and spa. Finally, Purgatory Resort is nestled in the rugged San Juan Mountains, only 25 miles north of historic downtown Durango. Known for this optimal skiing, Purgatory boasts a unique blend of steep tree skiing trails and wide-open cruisers with sweeping views.

Local Lifestyle

With so much to offer, it’s no surprise that individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds are drawn to resort-style living. Everyone from retirees to families with young children resides within resort-style communities, drawn to the laid-back lifestyle that’s prevalent here.

Perhaps one of the main advantages of resort-style living is the endless recreational choices and amenities. By owning a resort home, you don’t have to worry about jamming all the activities you enjoy doing into a two-week vacation. Another perk of resort living is the close-knit feeling that is hard to find elsewhere. Resorts are known for offering robust social calendars, making it easy for you to meet your neighbors and get connected.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Whether you’re in the mood for a quick bite to eat or prefer an upscale dining experience, you can find all of that here. Start your morning off with some fresh bagels from Durango Bagel, a hole-in-the-wall establishment that offers a myriad of bagel flavors, specialty breakfast, and lunch sandwiches. Those looking for a one-of-a-kind experience might want to check out El Moro Spirits and Tavern, which specializes in New American fare. This eatery is located in a former saloon and lays claim to be the site of “Durango’s Strangest Shootout” in 1906.

Things to Do

A haven for outdoor enthusiasts, southwest Colorado offers an abundance of activities. Purgatory Resort has gained a reputation for being a ski destination. Averaging 260 inches of snow annually, it’s known for consistent, dry powder from frequent storms, which are followed by sunny, bluebird days — creating perfect conditions for pure alpine nirvana. Purgatory features over 1,600 acres of skiable terrain, 105 trails, 11 lifts, multiple terrain parks, and a vertical drop of 2,029 feet.

The golf courses sit in their rightful place at the heart of Southern Colorado’s resort lifestyle. Hillcrest Golf Club is Durango’s premier public golf course, with a full-size driving range, a practice facility, and 18 challenging holes surrounded by stunning vistas. A membership-only club nestled among the red cliffs of the San Juan Mountains, Dalton Ranch is a friendly community of avid local golfers. Finally, Glacier Club has two challenging courses — a Mountain Course and a Valley Course —, on-site golf pros, and some of Southwest Colorado’s most breathtaking views.

The resort towns also host a wide array of festivals throughout the year. Music in the Mountains and Durango Independent Film Festival are popular community traditions.
